Often times, we know we should pray but struggle to find the words to say. Or, we don’t even know what we should pray. The Bible has told us both how to pray and gives us examples of prayers that we can recite during our prayer time.
What are Christian prayer examples? Christian prayer examples are prayers from Scripture. By following prayer examples on the topics of The Lord’s prayer, starting your day, love, fear, bedtime, and praise we can pray even when we are unsure what to pray. These 61 prayers should be memorized so when we become unsure of what to pray, we are already prepared.
I hope these Scriptures encourage you and inspire your prayer time to be filled with the Word of God!
61 Biblical Examples of Prayers
The Bible is filled with examples of prayers. They can lead and guide us during our prayer time. We can pray them when we are unsure of what to say or even what to pray about. Praying the Word of God is powerful.
One of the most well-known prayers is the Lord’s prayer, let’s begin there.
The Lord’s Prayer
This passage of Scripture begins with the disciples asking Jesus how they should pray. His response is found in Matthew 6:9-13. The NIV translation says,
“This, then, is how you should pray:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.”
Praying this is powerful. You are praying the words that Jesus gave his disciples to know how to pray.
The Message translation puts it this way,
“Our Father in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right;
Do what’s best—
as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
You’re in charge!
You can do anything you want!
You’re ablaze in beauty!
Yes. Yes. Yes.”
While I would recommend memorizing the first example of the Lord’s pray because it is a more direct translation if you struggle memorizing the Message version may be easier to start with and from there memorize the NIV version.
If you are still struggling to memorize, I would recommend listening to songs about the Lord’s prayer to help you remember the pray. Two examples are, “The Lord’s Prayer” by Hillsong Worship and “The Lord’s Prayer” by Citizen Way.
